This piece is very near and dear to my heart. It is inspired by a unique narrative that’s been happening in my very own backyard.
A year ago, my husband and I adopted 4 chickens. After a couple months, I started noticing odd trinkets ending up in their pen. I found everything from slices of bread to gorgeous pieces of glass to bones and teeth. I couldn’t figure out where these pieces were coming from. And then, one day, I was watching my hens when I saw these crows land on the fence post lining their pen. They seemed wildly entertained but eventually flew off. The next day, I saw the crows drop a huge slice of bread right where I’d been finding the treasures. It dawned on me; the crows were leaving presents for my hens. So, over the course of the last year, I’ve been slowly collecting the unique gifts. These offerings are just some of the collection so far.
Also, I’ve since learned that crows are helpful in protecting your flock against hawks as they raise the alarm when danger is near.
To honor these birds, I’ve created this petite totem. May this little Crow bring you protection and prosperity.
This charm pendant is hand sawn from Sterling Silver sheet and has a hand delivered stamped detail. Each jump ring is carefully and meticulously soldered shut to help with stability and ease of movement. A patina was applied to both the chain and charm before bringing it to a matte finish. There are two chain length options 16” and 18”.
